ABOUT THE AWARDS

Jo believed that we have more in common than that which divides us and this award was founded to highlight the fantastic work happening all over Wales on the issues Jo cared about so deeply.

I can think of no better to way celebrate Jo's legacy or to spread her message of unity and compassion than to pay tribute to the kind and selfless acts happening in our communities everyday.

I am really proud to have worked alongside Jo.

She was a wonderful person who worked tirelessly for a fairer, kinder and more tolerant world.

She felt passionately that even the greatest challenges could be overcome; it is my believe that the incredible people celebrated in these awards will prove just that.

Make sure that you nominate the outstanding people who have made a difference to your community!

COMMUNITY

CHAMPIONS

This award will be presented to an individual, local team or group of volunteers who make a difference to their community by improving amenities or raising the quality of life for local residents.

The category is open to individuals, local charities, or voluntary organisations who, by giving up their free time, make a significant contribution to the lives of others within their community. For example, fundraising for better facilities or organising community events.

Nominees, for example, may run a local club, they may organise community clean-ups or campaign for better services. They'll be working to improve and/or positively affect the lives and living conditions of individuals within their area.

It could be a person you turn to in times of crisis or a team who is responsible for keeping your community safe. They may have gone above and beyond the call of duty or make an outstanding contribution to help those they serve.

We are looking for evidence of how this has made the community a better or safer place to live.
